Smooth Collie The Good... The Smooth Collie originated from Scotland. This large working class is not aggressive but makes a very good watch dog. This breed is intelligent and need lots of mental stimulation. They are loyal and a great family dog that are good with children and people in general. Typically they are also good with other pets but do need lots of socializing and companionship. They are sweet and good natured. The hard working Collie is versatile and obedient. They love participation in all kinds of sports and activities. They are also adept at herding, search and rescue, therapy, and make excellent guide dogs. - Collies need moderate exercise. The Bad... Collies are heavy shedders so require lots of brushing. They can be stubborn and are sensitive to noise and stress. If left alone too often, the Collie will develop separation anxiety. As far as health, their weakness is the eyes; they are very susceptible to eye disease that can lead to blindness.
