Dachshund Toy and Worried Mom

(Kim)

I just got my 4 yr old Dachshund, he won't play with any toy other than to chew the squeeker out. Any suggestions? And I am worried about leaving him all day while I am at work. Help! Worried new mom!

Hi Kim,

Thank you for contacting us about your 4 year old Dachshund. I just need a little more information.

When you say that you are concerned about leaving him alone while at work. Are you worried because he is not yet trained or because he is lonely or that he will choke on his squeeker? Does he also chew on household items?

Would really appreciate a little more information so we can help you with this issue. Thanks.

Warm Regards,

Thank you so much for getting back to me. No he doesn't chew anything else. I can't seem to find any toys that he likes. I am not worried about him choking on the squeeker because none of his toys have them now. haha. I am just concerned because he is home all day alone and I think he is lonely and bored. Thanks again!

Keeping Dachshund from Boredom While Mom Works

Here are my suggestions and links you can browse through...

- Food dispensing toys such as - KONGS - just stuff a treat or other appropriate food inside the kong.

- CALMING MUSIC - you may laugh at this one but please take a look at the glowing customers reviews.

- TV - leave the TV on for company - animal planet for example.

- Have you tried DOGGIE CHEWS?

- BONIES- they are healthy and made from all natural ingredients that help calm your dog as well as keeping his teeth clean, if he will actually chew on them.

- Doggy day care.

- Do you know someone that does not work that would come over and take him for a walk, that might work.

- Keep a TOY BOX handy for him with a variety of toys, maybe he will eventually try one of them.

- Take him for a Walk in the am and maybe this will be tiring enough that he will sleep for awhile.

- How about another dog for company? (lol)

I hope this is helpful and that something or a combination of things work for you and your Dachshund, let me know how you make out.
