Revolution Flea Control is a topical (on-the-skin) medicine used on dogs, cats, puppies and kittens to prevent and control fleas. The active ingredient is selamectin, which attacks the nervous system. It kills adult fleas and prevents eggs from hatching.
Your veterinarian will have to prescribe Revolution Flea & Tick control for your animal. As with all medicines prescribed by your vet, never give it to an animal other than the one for whom it was prescribed. Dosage instructions should be followed carefully as this is determined by your pet's weight. Remember to advise your veterinarian of other medications your pet is taking. This includes vitamins and supplements.
Although rare, side effects or an allergic reaction could occur. If you notice any of the following, take your pet to your veterinarian immediately:
Loss of appetite
Revolution Flea Control is available in single dose applications and only has to be applied once a month. It should be applied to dry skin, at the base of the neck and not be rubbed in. NEVER give it by mouth and avoid contact with the eyes. It should not be used in conjunction with other tick or flea control products. Do not apply to broken skin as irritation might occur. Do not let your dog get wet for at least 2 hours after application.
Should it get onto your skin wash it off immediately and always wash your hands immediately after you have applied it to your pet. If you notice irritation of the skin your petmight be hypersensitive. In that case consult your veterinarian before applying another dose.
Although it is safe to use on breeding animals, it is not advisable to use on sick or weak and underweight animals. Although safe for use on pregnant and nursing females, as well as puppies older than 6 weeks and kittens older than 8 weeks, care should be taken to avoid accidental digestion.
Revolution Flea Control is flammable and should not be exposed to flame or direct heat. Keep in a dry place at a temperature below 86. Dispose of empty tubes where pets will not be able to chew on them. As with all medicines, keep out of reach of pets and children.
